CUPCAKE CHAPTER

This outlet is among the latest western joints invading Hulu Kelang area. Its next to MRR2, opposite the the Zoo Negara.
Worth trying? Yes and No. Have been here few times and the services had spiral down very fast! Food remains good but when waiters keep missing your orders then there is something wrong with the management.

The prices here is expensive but the serving is large. Just 5 out of 10.

THAT LITTLE GERAI.... SIMPLY GREAT!

Yes, its a small little gerai in AU5 Keramat. Many will miss this outlet as its situated next to the community centre with so many other small gerais' near it.

I have dined here many times and I enjoyed my food there. There are not many tables, laid back and I believe the owners do not want to spend much moving into a cozier shop. The chef/cook did his time working in the United States.(can read about it later). The guys here know their food as they can explain the us whats in the menu.

The menu is extensive , mainly western in nature.

I have tried a few. Enjoyed the food! The food presentations are better than most restaurants!

The portions are Asian, just nice for our tummy!

The ribs are great! Tender and juicy!.

Try Puding Raja...much better than the ones from Pahang.
Overall, the food is better than many established restaurants. I would recommend friends to dine here. Opens after Maghrib.

CHEAPEST MAMAK FOOD IN BANGSAR?

I was feeling cheap. I had to go to this stall. Just ask the guys who have been around for sometime(I mean old!!!). They'll tell you this, " gerai mamak bawah pokok ketapang kat Lucky Garden"

Open air, plastic tables and stools and a long long queue! If you are wearing your pressed Saville Row hand stitched shirt with your Italian designer silk tie, please don't come here! This is no bistro! Its real mamak stall.
I don't know how long have they been here but my guess it has gone through at least 3 economic crisis! The food is simple and the menu is always the same. Kari Kepala ikan, ayam goreng, ikan cincaru goreng, sotong goreng dan taugeh celup! I have eaten more than 100 times and it always been the same.
The great thing about the food:  its hot! Just out of the wok and there'll be everyone clamouring to get the best!

Since I had to feed my kids for lunch, I decided to tapau them! Its so cheap that my friends don't believe them! You can feed 6 people for less than RM20.00. Try getting that elsewhere!!!!

BELIEVE IT?

IKAN BAKAR - BELAKANG SURAU ISTANA NEGARA (LAMA)

TARIKH : 14 OKTOBER 2013
JAM : 12.20 pm.
sehari sebelum Hari Raya Aidil Adha

Pencicahnya memang sendap..No denying!!!!

Terdapat juga kerabu mangga dan juga sambal belacan untuk ulam..Memang masakannya lazat. 7/10...

Harga makanan amat berpatutan. BERBALOI !! WORTH TRYING!!!!

MEE KARI TANGLIN - MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE

My favourite Mee kari stall. I have eaten many but I still prefer this stall. The operators have been in Jalan Tanglin even before the complex was erected. Previously, it was situated in a bungalow house next to this complex with 2 other operators. The bungalow was demolished to make way for...don't know what!!!!!
I have been eating here since the early 1990s.
The mee kari is different from other mee karis' that I have eaten. Its broth is made from shrimp rather than chicken and the other ingredients are just fish cakes, cockles and taugeh. Just that and soooo nice!!!Try it...

WANGSA GRILL BY CHEF ZUBIR.....WORTH IT?

It was recently opened for customers. One of the trendy restaurant in the Wangsa Maju side of town. Situated at the new shopping area not far from the Wangsa Melawati mosque. Owned by Chef Zubir, his third restaurant.
I visited the place 3 times in September 2013. (11, 19, and 23rd September 2013)
The décor is nice but the tables are limited. The crowd was good and I had to eat elsewhere on my second visit there as the place was full. Prices are just like other upscale restaurant.

I do not have great things to tell about the place. All my visits there was not well greeted. No one was waiting for us at the front door. My family and I had to find our own seats.
The menu was extensive. My wife called it fusion. It has Asian, Mexican, and Western food on the menu.

My first was a laugh when I found out that there was not enough cups to go around!!!! hahahaha!! This is a celebrity chef restaurant, and such things should not happened!!! Its not a big place, hardly 25 tables!!!! COMMON!!

Personally, I never met Chef Zubir. He was in the kitchen, supposedly cooking! I had no idea how was his food but since he is the Malaysia's Masterchef judge, the food MUST be great.
BUT all my expectations died when the first meal served, the NACHOS...I have eated so many nachos before and this was one of the worst. It was tasteless!! Chilly filled with no cheese taste! The rest was simply awful!
 NACHO'S

QUESADILLA
My third trip was more interesting. My kids still wanted to taste this famous chef's food.
My wife ordered Mee Kari while my kids ordered Pan Braised Chicken "dome". Presentation was great but the food were still not up to mark! Worst of all, I found onion skins in the Chicken roll..Kulit Bawang!!!!! Gordon Ramsay, where are you????
MEE KARI
(the best food I have tasted from the menu)

 PAN BRAISED CHICKEN "DOME"
 the onion skin!!!!!!!!!!

BANANA SPLIT
The banana split was awful.. banana was small, the waffle was not crispy..as my daughters said "masuk angin" The ice cream was not great...We all had eaten better dessert than this!!!
CONCLUSION:
There's too much hype about Chef Zubir. I would not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends. Smaller diners like "My Little Gerai" which served similar food deserved much better rating than this.
Chef Zubir may attract the Malay crowd but not the other races! He has still long way to go to be a recognizable and talented chef! He may have worked in many hotels but I have eaten in many great places too. Sorry, you are not my Wolfgang Puck or Tetsuya!
Decor: great, Food presentation : great...FOOD : NOT RECOMMENDED
